Unraveling Womb
In the center of the room is a vertical sculpture made to hovers between being static, liquid or flowing light. The material qualities of its construction activate this work, allowing it to float between solid and fluid, still and restless. The destructive act of taking apart the carefully made fabric creates further movement within the piece. The clear glass marbles react to the hand gently pulling the string. They move within the crochet-patterned membrane. The big weighty sculpture is taken apart stitch by stitch until the round little balls spill and roll around the room. A loud noise fills the space.
